Chelsea's Kevin De Bruyne says team mate Marko Marin convinced him to make the loan move to Werder Bremen, announced today.
The Bundesliga club today announced it was taking the Blues attacking midfielder / winger on loan for a year. The loan does not give Werder any option to make the deal permanent.
Speaking at a press conference at the Werder training ground, De Bruyne said: “Werder has a big goal, and we want to achieve together. I'll do my best here.
“I have no favourite position, I am a very versatile player. That's good because I can be used where I can help most.
“I talked with Marko Marin. He told me that it is a good team and a pleasant town.
"I've chosen Werder, because I had a good feeling, and a feeling in my heart for the club.
“To me it is important to gain a high level of playing and for me to develop.
"Football is the most important thing in my life: I have played it since I was seven years old."
Asked how he would deal with a new city and a new club, he said: "That's no problem, I'll settle effortlessly."
Chelsea signed Marin from Werder earlier in the summer – the German having spent the previous three seasons with the club.
Werder coach Thomas Schaaf said of De Bruyne: “He goes well with Werder. He is very active, contributes his own ideas and would like to draw destiny. He is exactly the player who we have been missing."
